Reunion Week Jobs

Each May, more than 30,000 students, families, and alumni take part in Harvard Commencement and Reunion activities. During this time, Dorm Crew and the Harvard Alumni Association hire over 500 undergraduates to support these events in a variety of roles. You can find out more about the available jobs below.

Working during this time is a leadership opportunity for students who are dedicated to serving and representing Harvard College, and it is a great a chance to connect with alumni, network, and share your experience all while working during one of the most exciting times on campus. All are encouraged to apply! 

  • In order to be eligible for these jobs, you must work for every day from 8:00am-5:00pm beginning Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 22.
  • Reunions are Thursday, May 21 through Sunday, May 31st. You must be available to work during this time; hours and shifts are variable.  The dates for each Reunion week job may vary.

Children's Program Day Staff

Overview: Do you love working with kids? Become a member of the Children’s Program team. Day Staff lead and supervise groups of children ranging in age from 4-16 years old and under the supervision of Legacy Sports Camp professional staff and College Group Directors. Legacy has over a half century of experience working with young people and will create a robust program for participants and staff alike. Day Staff members are responsible for the safety and conduct of a child or a group of children as they aid in the implementation of the Children’s Program Reunion activities. Day Staff members are responsible for the complete care and supervision of the children from 8:00 AM until 6:30 PM from Thursday May 28, 2020–Saturday May 30, 2020. Staff will be required to attend an orientation with program leadership prior to this date. On Wednesday May 27 (Day and Evening), staff members will work to prepare group headquarters with directors. A Day Staff member may also be eligible for work as an Evening Staff member.

Due to the sensitive nature of these positions, all applicants must submit to a CORI/SORI background check. You will be hired for these positions directly by the Harvard Alumni Association and/or Legacy Sports Camp before Spring Clean-Up & Reunions begin.

Requirements

  • You must complete your hiring paperwork and undergo a CORI/SORI background check.
  • You must work for Dorm Crew everyday from 8:00am-5:00pm beginning Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22.
  • You must work every day that the Children’s Program is in operation.
  • Any worker who does not report for a designated shift will be required to vacate the Reunion dorm housing immediately.

Pay Rate: $14.00 an hour (with a .50 pay raise for each consecutive year worked)

Children's Program Evening Staff

Overview: Do you love working with kids? Become a member of the Children’s Program team. Evening Staff members will be assigned to a designated Evening Program area where they will be responsible for the supervision of the children from 6:30 PM until 12:30 AM on Thursday May 28, 2020–Saturday May 30, 2020. The two Evening Programs will be divided by age groups. Staff will be required to attend an orientation on a to be determined date. On Wednesday May 27, staff members will work to prepare group headquarters with directors. Night Staff members are responsible for checking in the children when their Day Staff members drop them off. Night Staff members will also be responsible for making sure the children do not leave the building, unless accompanied by a parent. An Evening Staff member may be eligible for work as a Day Staff member.

Reunion Driver

Overview: Spend quality time connecting with University leaders, alumni, and other students, while putting your driving and networking skills to work as a reunion driver. As a driver, you will be one of the primary students to interact with reunioning alumni, as you transport them around campus. Drivers will support all on-campus reunions and work in partnership with HAA Reunions staff to determine priority events and locations throughout reunions week.  Drivers will assist alumni with accessibility and mobility challenges, and provide excellent customer service when fielding questions from alumni. Drivers may also assist with guiding alumni to Reunion events from headquarters or designated pick-up or drop-off locations, and will always ensure a safe driving experience. Drivers are expected to assist the Student Crew in charge of the Reunion Registration area, as well as members of the HAA Reunions staff. Drivers represent the diverse opinions, thoughts, values, and realities of today's College experience. Drivers report to the Senior Director of College Alumni Programs and the Chief Transportation Coordinator and will operate passenger vans and moving trucks during the week of Reunions, May 21, 2020– May 31, 2020. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, transporting alumni/ae to parking lots and dorm rooms, transporting staff to event locations, and transporting Reunion supplies to designated areas on campus.

Requirements

  • You must be 21 years of age by May 1, 2020, have a valid driver’s license, and have experience driving mini passenger vans, moving vans, or trucks.
  • You will be required to attend a mandatory meeting of Drivers during the week of May 1 (to be scheduled) and a mandatory orientation immediately prior to the start of Reunion Week.
  • You must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • You must complete your hiring paperwork and undergo a CORI/SORI background check.
  • You must work for Dorm Crew everyday from 8:00am-5:00pm beginning Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22.
  • Any worker who does not report for a designated shift will be required to vacate the Reunion dorm housing immediately. 

Pay Rate: $14.00 an hour (with a .50 pay raise for each consecutive year worked)

Reunion Ambassador

Overview: Are you interested in connecting with University leaders, alumni, and other students on campus during reunions? Ambassadors represent the diverse opinions, thoughts, values, and realities of today's College experience. Ambassadors will be assigned to a Reunion and work in partnership with HAA staff to welcome alumni to campus in a respectful and friendly manner. Ambassadors will assist alumni in finding their room assignment, bringing their baggage from headquarters to the assigned room, navigating the registration process, and provide excellent customer service when fielding questions from alumni. Ambassadors may also assist with guiding alumni to Reunion events from headquarters or designated pick-up or drop-off locations. Ambassadors are expected to assist the Student Crew in charge of the Reunion Registration area, and help keep it neat and tidy. Ambassadors may be asked to assist with other tasks, such as set-up of an event, posting signage, and moving reunion favors as needed.

There are limited positions available, and shifts are not guaranteed to all applicants. You will be notified of your assignment on the afternoon of Friday, May 22.

  • Any worker who does not report for a designated shift will be required to vacate dorm housing immediately.

Pay Rate: $14.00 an hour (with a .50 pay raise for each consecutive year worked)

Reunion Liaisons

Overview: On-call in the various Reunion Headquarters to assist with any housing issues (missing linens, missing keys, etc) and coordinating responses between Reunions staff and the Reunions housing coordinator to ensure that reunions operate smoothly from check-in to check-out.  

Employees are assigned to these positions based on their job performance with Dorm Crew and/or the Harvard Alumni Association from Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22. There are limited positions available, and shifts are not guaranteed to all applicants. You will be notified of your assignment on the afternoon of Friday, May 22.

Requirements: 

  • You must complete your hiring paperwork.
  • You must work for Dorm Crew everyday from 8:00am-5:00pm beginning Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22.
  • You will be required to attend a mandatory orientation meeting.
  • You must work every day that you are assigned to your Reunion.
  • Any worker who does not report for a designated shift will be required to vacate dorm housing immediately.

Hours: Vary, at least 8 hrs per day (8am-5pm or 2pm-11pm). Potential for overtime.
Pay rate: $14.00 - $17.25

 

Event Setup & Support Crew (Alpo)

Overview: Responsible for set-up and break-down of tables and chairs for Reunion events throughout the University, in addition to some miscellaneous duties. Most work is outside, rain or shine, and involves manual labor. Bring sunscreen.

Dates:
-Long Alpo:
 Monday - Saturday
-Medium Alpo: Tuesday - Saturday
-Short Alpo + Recycling: Alpo work Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, work along River houses assisting with clearing out recycling. Involves moving items and loading trucks.

Employees are assigned to these positions based on their job performance with Dorm Crew and/or the Harvard Alumni Association from Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22. There are limited positions available, and shifts are not guaranteed to all applicants. You will be notified of your assignment on the afternoon of Friday, May 22. 

Hours: Vary, with some long days. Must be willing and able to work as early as 5am or as late as 11pm. Potential for overtime.
Pay rate: $14.00 - $17.25

Commencement Crew

Overview: On-call in the Yard and Houses to assist with various duties including arranging chairs, delivering water, and removing trash in support of Commencement Week events including ROTC, Class Day, and the Commencement day morning exercises and afternoon program. On Friday, assist with trash and recycling in the Yard and River Houses.

Employees are assigned to these positions based on their job performance with Dorm Crew and/or the Harvard Alumni Association from Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22. Hours: Vary, with some long days. Must be prepared to, and able to, work as early as 5am to as late as midnight depending on the day. Potential for overtime.
Pay rate: $14.00 - $17.25

Crimson Catering Service Team

Overview: Assist Crimson Catering with a variety of tasks to facilitate Commencement Week events: loading and unloading trucks, assembling supply kits, and accompanying drivers for delivery and pick up. Occasionally working events and assisting staff with set up/clean up. Seeking workers who are enthusiastic, ready to work, and able to lift at least 30lbs. Prior Crimson Catering experience preferred. Blue polo shirts will be provided. You must wear jeans or khaki pants (no shorts) and sneakers.

There are limited positions available, and shifts are not guaranteed to all applicants. You will be notified of your assignment on the afternoon of Friday, May 22.

Operations Crew

Overview: Operations Crew works behind the scenes in the Yard and Houses to provide a wide array of event support, facilities maintenance, and guest services that support the 30,000 alumni, guests, and graduating seniors on campus for Reunions and Commencement. 

Dates:
-Extra Long Op Crew: Mon—Sat
-Long Op Crew: Mon—Fri
-Short Op Crew: Mon—Wed, Fri

Hours: Vary, at least 8 per day, starting at 8am. Potential for overtime.
Pay Rate: $14.00 - $17.25

Law School Dean of Students Support Crew

Overview: Work closely with the Harvard Law School Dean of Students Office and help with some of the labor associated with Commencement. One worker will be asked to be on stage during the actual diploma ceremony in business attire.

Employees are assigned to these positions based on their job performance with Dorm Crew and/or the Harvard Alumni Association from Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22. There are limited positions available, and shifts are not guaranteed to all applicants. You will be notified of your assignment on the afternoon of Friday, May 22.
