Our Services

Dorm Crew provides Harvard with a wide variety of cleaning and support services. We also offer many services exclusively to first-year students to facilitate the transition to college residential life. Residential life is an integral part of the Harvard experience, and Dorm Crew is here to help make your dorm a real home away from home.

Cleaning & Support

Bathroom Cleaning

Dorm Crew cleans private, in-suite bathrooms in undergraduate residences biweekly during the fall and spring terms when students are on campus. One of our employees will come to your room between the hours of 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Sunday to Saturday. They will leave a note indicating who cleaned your bathroom and how to contact Dorm Crew with any comments or concerns.

Dorm Crew prides itself on delivering the highest quality services. You should expect every Dorm Crew employee who enters your suite to be polite, professional, respectful of your privacy, and highly trained in bathroom cleaning.

Dorm Crew’s bathroom cleaning service includes the following:

  • Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, countertops, bathtubs, showers, and all frequently touched surfaces
  • Sweep, mop, and disinfect bathroom floors
  • A signature Dorm Crew post-it indicating who cleaned your bathroom and how to contact us with any comments or concerns.

Dorm Crew employees are not responsible for removing trash from your bathroom or cleaning bathmats and other personal items.

Dorm Crew is not responsible for plumbing or electrical issues in your bathroom. These issues should be reported to your building manager.

Life Safety Inspections

Dorm Crew conducts monthly life safety inspections in all undergraduate residential buildings. These inspections are reported to building managers.

  • Fire Door Inspections
    • In-suite fire doors (secondary egress) must be unobstructed and able to be opened fully at all times, in accordance with City of Cambridge safety regulations.  When conducting these inspections, Dorm Crew employees enter your suite and record whether your fire door is blocked.
  • Exit Signs & Emergency Light Inspections
    • Exit signs in the hallways and stairways of student residences must be visible and unobstructed; emergency lights must be fully functional. Dorm Crew inspects the status of both to ensure compliance with City of Cambridge safety regulations.
  • Door Lock Inspections
    • All student suite doors must be locked at all times, in accordance with College policy. Dorm Crew inspects whether suite doors are propped open, unlocked, or otherwise unsecured.
  • Gas Stove Inspections
    • Dorm Crew inspects each gas stove to make sure that all burners are off and that no combustible items are on the stove top.

A/V Inspections

In fall 2017, Dorm Crew is piloting a program to regularly inspect and troubleshoot the audio/visual equipment in selected House common spaces.
